                  protagonisti per l'acquisizione dei dati. Il Dott. =

                  Goffredo e i Professori Francesco Zaccanti, Direttore =

                  Dipartimento di Biologia Evoluzionistica Sperimentale =
e=20
                  Corrado Piccinetti, Direttore del centro di Biologia =
Marina e=20
                  Pesca in Fano, hanno avuto l'idea di suggerire ai sub, =
come=20
                  turisti d'eccezione e profondi amanti del mare, di=20
                  "raccontare" all'Universit=E0 gli esiti delle loro =
uscite per=20
                  compiere un biomonitoraggio, uno studio capace di =
dipingere un=20
                  quadro oggettivo dello stato dell'ambiente marino.=20
                  <BR><BR><B>Biodiversit=E0</B>. <BR>In ecologia con il =
termine=20
                  "biodiversit=E0", si intende il numero di specie =
vegetali e=20
                  animali presenti in un determinato luogo, regione o=20
                  ecosistema. Un habitat "naturale, inalterato" ad =
esempio un=20
                  bosco, presenta un elevato grado di biodiversit=E0 =
perch=E9 in=20
                  esso vivono molte specie di piante e animali. Al =
contrario, un=20
                  ambiente "innaturale, alterato", ad esempio un campo =
coltivato=20
                  a grano, presenta un basso grado di biodiversit=E0 =
perch=E9 ospita=20
                  una sola essenza vegetale. Quindi il livello di =
diversit=E0=20
                  biologica =E8 indice dello stato dell'ambiente. I =
monitoraggi=20
                  sono essenziali per la diagnosi dello stato di salute=20
                  dell'ambiente e costituiscono il primo passo per =
qualsiasi=20
                  intervento di gestione equilibrata delle risorse =
naturali.=20
                  Come antiche e preziose opere d'arte naturali, le =
specie=20
                  marine presenti nel Mediterraneo devono quindi essere =
ben=20
                  catalogate per poter essere protette nel minor tempo =
possibile=20
                  e nel migliore dei modi. <BR><BR>Dai dati reperibili =
nella=20
                  letteratura scientifica, risulta che in Mediterraneo =
siano=20
                  presenti oltre 8500 specie di organismi macroscopici, =
il 6.3%=20
                  delle specie marine del pianeta e che una specie su =
quattro, =E8=20
                  rappresentata da endemismi, cio=E8 da specie che =
vivono=20
                  esclusivamente in questo mare. <BR><BR><B>Le =
fluttuazioni=20
                  climatiche</B> esercitano un ruolo di primaria =
importanza=20
                  nella dinamica della biodiversit=E0. Provocando una=20
                  omogeneizzazione dei popolamenti naturali, =
l'alterazione degli=20
                  habitat assieme all'introduzione di specie esotiche, =
causano=20
                  una perdita di biodiversit=E0: in questo meccanismo, =
mentre le=20
                  specie endemiche, incapaci di tollerare le alterazioni =
degli=20
                  ecosistemi, si estinguono, le specie esotiche, =
trasportate=20
                  dall'uomo, espandono la loro distribuzione geografica. =
Queste=20
                  colonizzazioni hanno causato intense modificazioni=20
                  dell'ecosistema costiero, con perdita di ricchezza e =

                  diversit=E0 biologica. I mass media, l'opinione =
pubblica e gli=20
                  amministratori stanno prendendo coscienza di questo =
fatto, ma=20
                  la loro preoccupazione sembra riguardare solo una =
ristretta=20
                  cerchia di organismi come, ad esempio, i mammiferi =
marini e le=20
                  tartarughe. Poca o nessuna attenzione =E8 rivolta =
invece alla=20
                  necessit=E0 di proteggere sistematicamente tutte le =
specie, il=20
                  solo modo per poter mantenere alta la diversit=E0 =
biologica e=20

                  variabilit=E0 naturale degli <B>ecosistemi marini</B> =

                  interpretare gli effettivi cambiamenti nella loro =

                  Alcuni studi hanno dimostrato che qualsiasi turista, =

                  correttamente stimolato, coinvolto e formato, pu=F2 =
raccogliere=20
                  dati qualitativamente simili a quelli raccolti da vero =

                  professionista. Non solo, =E8 ormai assodato che la =
sempre pi=F9=20
                  diffusa "voglia di natura", che da tempo condiziona la =
